THE BLOOD MAIDEN

Written: late 2009. I wasn't really happy with this - one thing I want to write is the IPC data files, this would be one of them (along with one for pretty much every type of monster, and various unique terrors).

THE BLOOD MAIDEN

The blood maiden is an extremely powerful spirit, bound to a small (and apparently indestructible) figurine. She is, as far as is possible to tell, a ghost bound with powerful magic that is related to the various vampire and lycanthrope curses. The favoured theory as to her origin is that she was a witch who bound herself with strange blood magic into a figurine.
When immersed in a large quantity of blood (the requirement seems to be the blood of 100 completely drained victims), the figurine reshapes it into a larger version of itself, and the blood maiden takes a human form. Though she appears human, she is made of blood, and as such is incredibly difficult to kill (see below). In addition, she possesses incredible strength and agility, making her a deadly opponent even when unarmed.
Both in human form and when a figurine, she has moderate telepathy, and is able to talk to sensitive individuals and those of her followers who are attuned to her. She also possesses minor mind control abilities that allow her to, over time, manipulate someone into becoming her ‘high priest’, and preparing the ritual that allows her to return time and time again.
Her human form is an incredibly beautiful, black haired woman. When engaged in 1978 she favoured firearms, and had prepared many of her followers such that she could, when needed, drag the blood from them to heal herself. We have reason to believe that she is capable of other, similar blood rites.
As she is made of incredibly dense blood, normal gunfire is highly ineffective, as is any melee weapon that isn’t a power tool. Anything capable of piercing through her merely elicits a blood spatter, and deals little lasting damage. Severing her limbs (a difficult task) is the most effective way of depleting her blood; as the limb will dissolve into dead blood soon after severance.
She was defeated in 1978 after being pinned with a tractor, and then slowly dismembered with a chainsaw. She is believed inactive, as following the 1978 incident, the figurine was buried deep within the earth after it was found to be indestructible.
In 2003, a team tasked with recovering the figure to reattempt its destruction was unable to find it. As such, this report on her capabilities and what she is has been compiled and added as an addendum.
In summary, the Blood Maiden is a highly dangerous individual, who should only be engaged by a heavily equipped, and prepared, team. Her followers, however, will only increase in number slowly, and are human. This makes her a low priority threat.
