Pilot – Where a foot has trod
SCENE 1: The Woods
(Text on screen – Operation TOR788; 1740 DEC 29 2006
NAMEA and NAMEB are crouching over some heavily indented human footprints)

[Distance shot the pair crouching]
[Close up of the two crouching, NAMEA squeezes some of the dirt]
NAMEA
This dirt isn’t soft.
[NAMEB]
NAMEB
Think it’s him?
[NAMEA]
(NAMEA drops the dirt and looks aside for a second before replying)
NAMEA
Looks like it.
SCENE 2: The Wait
(NAMEA and NAMEB are standing some distance from a house in the twilight)
[Dialog shots]
NAMEB (looking at the sky)
It’s too bad it took us all day to find him.
NAMEA
At least the rest will be here in time to keep an eye on the exits.
[Shot fade to ‘later’]
RADIOA
We’re in position, over.
RADIOB
Me too. Uh, over.
NAMEA (radio)
We hear you, over.
RADIOA
Alright.
NAMEC, head to NAMEA and watch him as he and NAMEB enter from the
front. I’m sending NAMED to cover the back, and I’ll be keeping an eye
on the other door. He won’t escape us this time. Good luck to the both
of you. Over.
RADIOB
Gotcha, over.
NAMEA (radio)
Roger that.
Scene 3: The Search
(NAMEA and NAMEB approach the house cautiously. If we use our house, they approach the glass door)
(When they reach it, NAMEB pulls the door open as NAMEA shines his torch about and looks inside cautiously. They step in)
[Shot switch to inside]
(As NAMEB goes to close the door, he spots something)
NAMEB
There!
(NAMEA shines his torch, and seeing something, shoots a few times. It scampers away, barely seen by the camera. Our house – this will be from near the kitchen table and then in the direction of the lounge room)
(NAMEA and NAMEB run forwards to give chase, but it seems to have disappeared into some other part of the house)
[Shot onto NAMEA, crouching over the blood trail]
(NAMEA
looks at a trail of black sticky blood in the light of his torch, and
follows it to a door. This has to take a little while. Our house, lounge room door [open…])
NAMEA (turning around)
I reckon I wing- NAMEB?
(NAMEA
looks behind himself, standing up. A slamming sound and a scream comes
from the direction of the door behind him, so NAMEA runs in its
direction. Our house, door to passage.)
[Shot of NAMEA moving quickly]
(After the screams stop, NAMEA slows down and approaches a door [Jack’s or my bedroom].
He cautiously shines his torch about before sticking into his mouth,
turning the knob and kicking the door open. THE GHOUL leaps out at him
immediately, bowling him over, and making him lose hold of the torch)
[NAMEA and THE GHOUL struggling]
(They
struggle for a while, before NAMEA shoots several times, and moves THE
GHOUL off of him. Standing up, he grabs and then shines his torch on THE
GHOUL, which is revealed to be a woman [no ghoul features, either –
fresh])
NAMEA (radio – looks worried)
This house has been abandoned for years, right?
RADIOC
Affirmative – What happened? Were you attacked?
NAMEA (radio after the first fuck – note, draws out fuck, increasing volume as he says it)
FuuuuCK! He’s not fuckin’ here!
(the
last shot stays still with the corpse on the ground, and the room
visible behind [horizontal shot) as NAMEA moves off towards/shines his
torch in the room to take a look)
RADIOC
Affirmative. We repeat, what happened?
[Fade out with the last line]
CREDITS. (if I have time, I’ve got an idea for a neat sequence)
Extra Scene: The Escape
(A man is behind the wheel of a car at night, driving)
[Shot from behind drivers seat, bit to the left. Directly behind]
(The man turns the car after a little while, and speaks)
MAN
Too easy.
(The
man grabs the unseen passenger’s arm with his left hand, drags it off
screen in front of his face, and a crunch noise is played. He should
mime taking a bite out of the arm/hand)
[End at the crunch]
